Idea 9: Making better use of infrastructure released from the pandemic

With more space becoming available but traditional barriers to facility ownership or rental remaining, what opportunities could be created to help local communities develop sustainable, impactful offers in places which may lack dedicated facilities? How could these be adapted to encourage new audiences?

The idea is that it may be possible to repurpose spaces for sport and physical activity that have become vacant or underutilised as a result of the impact of COVID, whether they be retail, office or warehousing in our town centres of suburbs.

Or are there new or alternative opportunities to innovate and redesign offers around particular sports and activities that could be delivered in cooperation with cross sector partners to fit these spaces to support the recovery of town centres?
